My weekend in Colorado Springs was super-awesome. Really! Beyond another wildfire in the Boulder foothills, nothing extraordinary happened. However, 2 days full of old friends, costumes and dancing have me playing catch up on my zzz’s.
Here’s my iPhone documentation of the events:
The Dome Fire started Friday morning. I took this from our office deck. Though not nearly as widespread as September’s Four Mile Fire, it was much closer to town (we could see flames throughout the day) and therefore meant the evacuation of a few thousand residents. My home was one block outside of the evac zone. Luckily, everything was contained quickly – thanks to our rock star firefighters. At one point, all of downtown Boulder was without electricity for an hour. Without power or internet, people poured into the street to watch the fire. It was one of those surreal experiences.
And all ended with a round of Happy Birthday… (PS. They are ghosts, not snowmen.)
Also, we finally figured out how to turn on our heater – so no more chilled nights! Top weekend!
